Considering ADLM but not sure if it’s right for you? Find out if it should be on your radar as we share our experiences.
The Association for Diagnostic Laboratory Medicine (ADLM) conference is the go-to event for professionals across the laboratory medicine spectrum. In 2024, it once again provided a vital platform for researchers and clinicians to share their latest findings and innovations.
At the heart of ADLM, the Expo offered attendees a unique opportunity to explore cutting-edge solutions, engage directly with industry leaders, and discover innovative products shaping the future of diagnostic testing and patient care.
The event felt alive, with a staggering 24% surge in attendance – a clear indication of the industry’s eagerness to innovate and connect after the challenges of the pandemic. As diagnostic developments gather momentum, ADLM stands out as a beacon of progress, a place where ideas flow, partnerships are made, and the future of healthcare takes shape.
At the heart of this year’s event, the GADx team was in the thick of it, soaking up the energy and sharing our vision for accessible, affordable diagnostics. Our team included Rwanda Boone, Andrew Wheeler, Devon LaPlante, and Paul Meakin (UK), engaging with attendees and industry peers on the bustling Expo floor.
Andrew captured the energy of the event with this excellent video:
And we set social media alight with our own version of “that selfie“:
Devon LaPlante remarked, “The diversity of attendees at ADLM was impressive.
It provided us with invaluable insights into the current needs and future
directions of the diagnostic industry.”
“There’s something truly special about connecting in person,” shares Rwanda Boone, our Commercial Lead, who was instrumental in making our booth a hub of activity.
“The serendipitous nature of ADLM was one of its most valuable aspects. It’s these chance encounters and spontaneous conversations that often lead to the most fruitful collaborations.” Dr Paul Meakin explained. “A casual chat over coffee could spark a groundbreaking idea, or a chance meeting in the hallway might lead to an exciting new partnership.”
These unexpected interactions are what set in-person events apart. As Andrew Wheeler noted, “The energy of the room, the focused conversations, and subtle social cues that may not be so detectable via a Zoom call made this a must-attend event for us.”
Our booth position was a happy accident. “Our booth location was key… located at the center of the action, close to interactive exhibits and the coffee stations., we were right in the middle of the action!” Rwanda Boone shared.
We found ourselves at the crossroads of high traffic and engagement. This prime spotting allowed us to interact with a diverse array of attendees, from fellow exhibitors to potential collaborators, all while showcasing our latest advancements in diagnostic technology.
We will be looking for similar locations at next year’s event.
In our opinion, ADLM is where the brightest minds come together to tackle the toughest challenges in global health diagnostics. Our participation wasn’t just about showcasing what we’ve achieved; it was about contributing to a larger conversation – one that has the power to transform lives across the globe.
Every session, every workshop, and every casual conversation is an opportunity to exchange knowledge that can spark change. It’s a platform where diverse perspectives collide, giving rise to creative solutions that address the most pressing healthcare needs.
Here, the dialogue extends beyond the commercial aspects of our industry to the very heart of our mission: enhancing patient outcomes and making quality healthcare a reality for everyone, everywhere.
It’s a place where conversations lead to actions, and where every voice can make a difference in the global quest for better health outcomes.
While our overall experience was overwhelmingly positive, we did face some minor challenges. For instance, we missed contact with some potential partners due to scheduling conflicts. Also, the sheer volume of attendees and exhibitors sometimes made it challenging to have in-depth conversations with everyone we wanted to meet.
For next year we will:
This will help us maximize participation and value at future events.
As we look back on ADLM 2024, we are already looking forward to future events. It proved to be an invaluable experience for GADx, reminding us of the importance of face-to-face interactions in our industry. From the bustling Expo floor to spontaneous conversations over coffee, every moment offered opportunities for learning, collaboration, and growth.
ADLM is also the only event we’re aware of in the Americas with such a diverse range of attendees and potential partners.
Whether you’re a researcher, clinician, or industry professional, ADLM offers a fantastic platform to connect, learn, and shape the future of diagnostic medicine.
We will be there in 2025 and beyond. The question is… will you?
